We’re delighted to be able to tell you that Be-IT Resourcing’s MD, Gareth Biggerstaff, will be one of the principal speakers at The Herald’s ‘Talking Trends’ event on 19th May at The Hub at Pacific Quay, Glasgow.

This is an event designed to explore the way the digital world is making a major impact on all our lives  - and having a beneficial event on the economy by way of increasing the number of digital companies and the associated jobs and income that they bring.

Wide-ranging in its scope, Talking Trends offers businesses of every shape and size the opportunity to learn more about the new technologies that are changing our world on an almost daily basis.  However, it’s also important that we learn from the other industries that have previously risen to prominence in Scotland. In days gone by, Scotland, and specifically Clydeside, was one of the engineering centres of the world and, more recently we’ve seen the rise and partial fall of electronics/semi-conductors and, of course, the current problems in the North Sea as a result of the collapse in the price of oil. This last issue will be the subject of Gareth’s talk, in which he’ll consider what lessons the digital industry can learn from Scotland’s past and particularly from the oil and gas industry in Aberdeen.

As well as Gareth, the other speakers will be Rob Campbell, Director of Employee Engagement at CodeClan, Dr Anna Morgan-Thomas from the Adam Smith Business School at the University of Glasgow, Ben Hutton, who is a Director and Partner in xDesign, a mobile app and digital solutions company and Emma Mykytyn, head of Foodie Explorers, a Glasgow-based food and travel website that has grown from a hobby into a business.

We think this is an excellent initiative from The Herald and we hope that lots of you will be able to attend. If you would like to go along – and it’s free, which is an added bonus! - you can book your place here.
