ScotTech’s latest conference, which takes place latter this week, on 26th May, at Our Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh, starts from the premise that “The mobile phone is the device which defines our generation: mobile technology has changed the way we communicate, interact, access the internet and consume entertainment.”
Along with the invention of printing, the phone and the internet, the mobile is arguably one of those rare beasts that has profoundly changed our world. Like those other world-changing inventions, it is not universally beneficial (how many spam emails/nuisance calls have you had recently?), but overall its impact has been overwhelmingly positive and will be increasingly so in the future.
Mobile Scotland, which Be-IT will be attending, offers an opportunity for business leaders, techies and IT experts to share and learn, with a wide range of presentations from major industry figures who will explore how companies can make the optimum use of mobile technology to achieve their business goals. You can see the full agenda here.
We think this is another important initiative from ScotTech. As they themselves explain, “from internal process and staffing patterns to the way the organisation engages with its customer base … technology has become a crucial enabler (and) an organisation’s app is now perceived to be its new shop floor and the aesthetics, functionality and service experience must reflect that importance.” The aforementioned downsides – spam, nuisance calls, etc. – demonstrate the importance of the iT industry getting this right. It’s going to be a really interesting conference! If you’d like to attend, you can register here.
