Last Thursday, the Be-IT team (well, some of us – the rest were busy at their day jobs) attended Mobile Scotland 2016, at Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh.
The event was conceived to “bring technologists together to learn, share and discuss.” It was certainly busy enough and clearly the participants were taking advantage of the opportunities to network and learn from their peers and some of the mobile industry’s real experts. The way mobile technology is transforming the business world, from internal process and staffing patterns to the way businesses interact and engage with their customer base (in particular via the use of apps) is increasingly important and it’s a growing area of business for Be-IT.
That’s why we were there – not just to network and meet some interesting people (which we did) but also to learn and keep up to date with the latest developments. As is well known, mobile developers are like hens’ teeth when it comes to recruitment. To continue with the avian theme, money rules the roost, while the work environment – the free coffee, free fruit, free gym, etc. – which many companies provide, helps keep developers with their current employer. Consequently, it’s vital that Be-IT does continue to network and make contact with potential candidates - and it’s by attending well-run events like this that we can do this and keep ahead of the competition.
