So there we were, in the big smoke again, manning the Be-IT stand, ready to hand out our branded pens and other goodies at the drop of a hat. The day began. We were very busy. Very busy indeed. So much so that our supply of Be-IT pens and other merchandise ran out by 11.30 am (and trust me, we had brought oodles of stuff - as you can see in the picture and bearing in mind that each bag contained lots or pens, mugs, etc.). Despite the lack of freebies, people still came up to the stand and it wasn't until about 3.00 pm that we quietened down. By this time, Gareth and I had been on our feet for hours, with virtually no break, so although somewhat tired we were pleased at the genuine interest shown by a wide range of public sector organisations.
Most of those we talked to were of the opinion that given the reductions in budget almost all public sector organisations are having to endure currently, the Show was a useful event as it allowed them to see a diverse array of IT services that can not only increase public sector efficiency and productivity but also save much money that is much needed for front-line services.
