Last week’s ICT 2.0 event at the QEII Hall in Westminster was another interesting trip. For a start, there were senior people who were well worth speaking to; notably Paul Maltby – Director of Data from Government Digital Service -who reflected on the scope and power of public sector data and how it can underpin the operation of government. Paul also promoted the use of novel data infrastructures to carry citizen-driven platforms and encourage business engagement – something that I know the Scottish Government is doing at present with its Citizen Account.
There was a lot of discussion on Cloud Computing becoming Data Driven and also much on Privacy, Security & Information Assurance and it was clear that, for the public sector in general with its focus on how organisations should be engaging with technology moving forward, these kind of events are important and Be-IT was pleased (as we always are) to support it. And yes, before you ask, we did enjoy going to the pub as well!
