Last month's Markit figures continue to show the very strong growth in the IT market, especially that for contractors. In addition, the overall recruitment market in Scotland shows an improvement in labour conditions across the country. More specifically, the report states, "Pay pressures remained elevated in Scotland, with permanent starting salaries at the fastest rate in ten months in July. Temp pay rates also rose sharply, with the rate of inflation picking jump since June."
However, it is in our field that Markit reports, "At the sector level, IT & Computing registered the sharpest increases for both permanent and temporary roles." Not only that, but the rate of growth exceeds the UK as a whole, for both temp and perm, as the screenshots here vividly demonstrate.
All in all, this reflects exactly what we're seeing at Be-IT. Lots of demand, a scarcity of good candidates (but we are finding them for you!) and a situation that's likely to continue in this vein for some time I suspect.
